Rehabilitation Project for Super Typhoon "Yolanda"Victims
More than 400 people from Japan and the Philippines dance
to the tune of popular idol group AKB48's "Koi Suru Fortune Cookie!"

The first dance video made from the collaborative efforts of
Japanese and Filipino people has been released!

In November 2013, super typhoon "Yolanda" (International name: Haiyan) caused massive damage as it moved across Central Philippines. To show our support to the Yolanda victims, we created a video under the theme "Gambatte* Philippines!"with Japanese and Filipinos dancing to the tune of popular idol group AKB48's pop song "Koi Suru Fortune Cookie." We are proud to announce that after months of taking and collecting videos and editing, the dance video has been completed and is now open to the public.

This video was originally the idea of an intern of ACC21, who wanted to show that the Japanese are still supporting the Filipinos, and that the Filipinos in the typhoon affected areas are slowly making their way towards recovery. She wanted to show the connectedness of the Filipino and Japanese people through this video.

Taking videos of people dancing to AKB48's pop song "Koi Suru Fortune Cookie" has become a phenomenon both within Japan and overseas, but it is the first time that a Philippine version has been made.

More than 400 people participated in this project: 20 Japanese NGOs and groups such as those from disaster-affected areas in Tohoku, student organizations, NGOs engaged in projects in the Philippines and Filipino community groups living in Japan; and 20 groups in the Philippines including people from the typhoon-affected areas, students in Manila, NGOs engaged in recovery and rehabilitation projects, and Japanese companies in the Philippines.
