Call for Proposals of local projects promoting education, youth development and preservation of indigenous and traditional culture (Deadline: Jan. 31st, 2025)

The J. Kawakami Memorial Trust for Education and Culture (the Kawakami trust) was established in 1978 in honor of the legacy of the late Jinzo Kawakami for the purpose of the improvement of international cultural and educational standards, thereby contributing to goodwill between Japan and other countries and to the improvement of international cultural and educational standards.
The Kawakami Fund provides scholarships or research grants to local NGOs, educational, academic or cultural research institutions, primarily to contribute to the improvement of international cultural and educational standards in developing countries.

The Kawakami Trust now welcomes proposals for FY2025 for local projects to be impelemented by local NGOs, educational, academic or cultural research institutions of the Philippines, Indonesia and Cambodia.

Countries of focus: The Philippines, Indonesia and Cambodia

Project costs: Amount of the grant ranges from 700,000 to 900,000 Japanese yen per project (annually).

Duration of the grant period: Up to three (3) years, depending on the nature of the project. Continuation of funding is based on the results of its performance upon evaluation.

Number of projects to be funded per year: One (1) to Two (2) project annualy.

Deadline for Application: January 31st, 2025 (Friday, Japan time)
Interested parties are requested to send their project proposals directly to the Tokyo Kawakami trust Office by 23:59 of January 31st, 2025 (Friday), Japan time, by e-mail.
